After Umbrage is pleased to announce that we are now able to help even more carers. We have extended the remit of the charity to include:
Anyone caring for a loved one with a ‘life limiting condition’ up to three stays at Kingham cottage.
As well as being able to offer carers who have sadly been bereaved, up to four nights at the cottage within the first twelve months.
We really want to help so please spread the word! Here are some lovely comments from our guests so far.
“Thank you so much for letting us stay in Kingham Cottage. We had a lovely time and it provided us with the perfect excuse to go away – just the four of us – and spend some time together. We wouldn’t have done so otherwise, and it was a precious few days, with lots of laughter and tears.”
“Thank you for the privilege of allowing us to stay in this beautiful cottage. We had a lovely relaxing time and the weather was beautiful.”
One of a million (and one in a million!) Tara, completed the London marathon. She ran this in conjunction with Braintrust. A UK based brain tumour support charity.
They provide personal 24/7 support from the point of diagnosis onwards, and build resources that help people living with a brain tumour become stronger.
It has been a busy year so far, thanks to all our fabulous supporters!
In March we had 6 wonderful runners doing the Bath Half marathon, raising £1495.
The weather was great, as were all our runners despite some rather impressive blisters!
The money raised has gone to the upkeep of Kingham cottage and bought some beautiful new curtains. So a huge thank you guys, you smashed it!
We are excited to be planning another After Umbrage Ball at the Great Hall in Oundle. So keep 11th February 2017 free!
It is valentines weekend so we thought it would be a good way to spread the love.
Building on the great success of last time we promise to provide lots of laughs, delicious food and tremendous disco dancing!
We will keep you up-dated. It would be lovely to see you there, it will be a night to remember!
We will be taking guests for February 2015 and look forward to your visit.
Kingham Cottage is in a wonderful location, only a five minute drive into the beautiful city of Bath, which offers a fantastic variety of things to see and do.
There are weekly farmers markets, wonderful galleries and many delicious restaurants to try, as well as a regular vintage market and excellent exhibitions.
The Bath Royal Theatre is a wonderful venue. At over 200 hundred years old, it is one of the most beautiful Theatres in Britain and is well renowned for top quality entertainment all year round.
The Little Theatre Cinema is a great little place showing the all latest movies and has a great atmospehere.
It is of course important not to forget the frankly amazing shopping, Bath has a huge varitey of shops, there is something for everyone!
The walking is great too, if not a tad hilly! The beautiful Sky Line Walk although energetic, rewards you with spectacular views of the city.
There are also plenty of guided tours through Bath, including Ghost Walks or if you prefer a more gentile spot of sightseeing, the hop on hop off bus is a great way of getting around.
